Title I

Cleveland Elementary School is one of seven Livonia schools that receive funds from the United States Government under Title I, Part A for the 2013-2014 school year. Each school district selects specific schools on the basis of the percentage of students with economic disadvantages.  In ours and most school districts selection is based upon the percentage of free and reduced lunch during October of the previous school year.  To help overcome any academic disadvantage, funds are allocated to support any Cleveland students who are struggling in the core academic areas of language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.

Students are identified for support based on district, state, and classroom assessments. Groups are flexible meaning that students may move in and out if Title 1 groups as their needs are met.

Parents have the right to request information regarding the professional qualifications of their child’s classroom teacher(s) and any paraprofessionals working with their children.  All instructional staff at Cleveland meet the highly qualified criteria under the No Child Left Behind law.
